Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms
Mental health conditions present differently in each person, but common indicators of depression include:
- Persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or worry
- Lack of interest in previously enjoyed activities
- Irritability or frustration
- Changes in appetite, fatigue, sleep disturbances
- Unwarranted guilt or concentration difficulties
- Thoughts about death or suicide
If you recognize several of these signs in yourself or a loved one, an evaluation with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) can clarify whether what you’re experiencing meets diagnostic criteria — and what treatment options may help.
Treatment Approach
We conduct thorough 90-minute initial assessments to understand your symptoms and medical history, then prescribe antidepressants such as Lexapro, Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Trintellix, or Viibryd to rebalance brain chemistry. A well-rounded treatment plan combines medication with talk therapy when appropriate.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is now available at our Highlands Ranch location: 83% of patients completing TMS experienced measurable depression relief, and 62% experienced full remission of symptoms.
